Some of My Favorite Daylilies

My Favorite Daylilies
I have 100-150 different varieties of daylilies in my garden. Some bloom really well, some are just so-so. Others are just beautiful enough to put up with not as many blooms.
Here I'll share with you some of the daylilies that are my favorites and let you know why.
Lavender Tonic
This daylily puts more buds and blooms on then any other daylily I have in the garden. The scape is 17" and the bloom size is 5 1/4". It has large eyes and raised midribs. This plant grows at a rapid rate. I've shared this plant with others and still have two large ones myself. I recommend it to anyone.
Benchmark
As you can see, I love my purples. Benchmark is a darker lavender than Lavender Tonic. The blooms are bigger but it doesn't put on as many buds as Lavender Tonic, but is still a good bloomer. This has a 30" scape and a 6" bloom.
Moonlit Masquerade
This one is a real beauty. Scapes are 26" tall with a 5 1/2" bloom.
Kwanso
I love this daylily because of it's vibrant colors. It also has a double bloom. Some people don't like this daylily because it sends out runners and will spread everywhere. The plant is large having 36" - 48" scapes. Flowers are about 4" across. This would be a good daylily to plant along a pond or in a ditch or anywhere else alone. It causes a lot of problems when you want to keep track of daylily names because the shoots will grow right along other daylilies.
Elegant Candy
This is one of my favorites because of the pretty colors and ruffles. Scapes are 25" and blooms are 4 /4". This daylily is also a rebloomer if you have a long enough season. This is part of the Candy Series by Stamile. I have several others from the series - Wineberry Candy, Blackberry Candy and Custard Candy. I like all of them.
Mountain Violet
I think the photo on this daylily says it all. It is a special beauty. Scape grows 25" to 30" and has a large bloom. If you live in a warmer zone than Michigan this beauty will also rebloom.
As more of the daylilies start to bloom and I have time to take photos, I'll add more. I hope you enjoyed viewing these and get as addicted to daylilies as I am.
