How to Prevent Stretch Marks During Pregnancy
How to Prevent Stretch Marks
As your abdomen and hips enlarge during pregnancy, the skin is going to stretch. Your breast will also get bigger. Often you'll get those dreaded stretch maarks on your skin. Heredity plays a factor as to whether you will get these, but how much weight you gain will also play a role. In this article you will find easy home remedies that help prevent stretch marks.
I never got any myself and most women do. It is a good ideas to try these tips. Keep your skin moisturized at all times. These natural remedies will keep your skin more elastic or you may choose to purchase over-the-counter remedies. I like the idea of using natural ingredients myself, especially during pregnancy.
Start using something before the stretch marks ever appear. If you wait too long, it may be too late.
Be sure to do a spot test before trying anything. A few people are allergic to chocolate and you could possibly be allergic to turmeric or shea butter.
Using Cocoa Butter to Prevent Stretch Marks
I can swear by using cocoa butter, because I used this when I was pregnant with my two children. You won't find a single stretch mark on my tummy and my son weighed 8 pounds 10 ounces at birth.
If you have any problems finding the cocoa butter, you can purchase it by the bar at drug stores. It is available as a cream or lotion stocked by many stores now. It does smell like cocoa, but the odor isn't strong. The bottled creams have other scents added so you won't smell the cocoa.
Use Shea Butter to Prevent Stretch Marks
Shea is a type of butter removed from a nut tree in Africa. The butter is removed from the nuts and is yellow and creamy. You can buy it as a cream, lotion or as a salve.
Shea butter can be purchased in most stores. It is also used for aging skin and burns.
Have you had a problem with stretch marks in the past?
Use Turmeric to Prevent Stretch Marks
I haven't tried using turmeric since the cocoa butter worked so well for me, but I saw this one suggested on the show The Doctors. Turmeric is a spice you can buy at the grocery store right with the other spices. Besides working for stretch marks, it also has many other health benefits when added to food.
All you need to do, is mix the turmeric with a little water to form a paste. Rub this on your tummy and leave it on for 10 to 15 minutes. Do this throughout your pregnancy.
Use one of these 3 ingredients and be one of the lucky ones with no stretch marks or minimize those you might get.
