Free Crochet Bikini Patterns
74It seems like everyone is searching for free crochet bikini patterns. On this page you will find several free patterns.
The crocheted bikinis are all the rage, but a big question is what fiber works the best. If you use regular acrylic or wool, it sags when you get out of the water. It is just too absorbent.
I've researched the problem and the advice I've found is that you should use a cotton yarn or cotton blend. Size 10 cotton thread seems to work well. Knit-Cro-Sheen and Speed-Cro-Sheen work well also. Patons Grace is used in one of the patterns below and Safron by Drops Designs is also used.
Be careful about your color choice. Dark colors may fade from the chlorine in pools and white may yellow in time.
If you are concerned about the holes created from crocheting, just line them with either an extra crocheted piece or use fabric.
It is also a good idea to use elastic in all the spots that should be snug. You can now purchase this at stores where they sell sewing supplies and it comes in spools as thin as sewing thread. This can be crocheted right with the thread you are using to create the bikini. Good spots to use the elastic are the bottom of the bikini top, the waistband, and the leg openings.
